ECONOMY AGRICULTURE • The Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on November 17, 2015, has made available more than 200 billion Naira in funding to more than 1.5 million smallholder farmers of 16 different commodities (Rice, Wheat, Maize, Cotton, Cassava, Poultry, Soy Beans, Groundnut, Fish), cultivating over 1.4 million hectares of farmland. • The ABP has substantially raised local production of rice, doubling the production of paddy as well as milled rice between 2015 and 2019. • Between 2016 and 2019, more than 10 new rice mills came on-stream in Nigeria. In 1999, Nigeria returned to democratic rule. It was very surreal. It was a very happy feeling being counted as one from a democratic nation. And so Nigerians embraced democracy having been under military rule for many years. We had high hopes that within the shortest possible time, Nigeria will join the League of Nations in terms of democratic, economic, electoral and infrastructural reforms. Sixteen years down the line, Nigerians awoke from a great slumber to see that the sort of reforms brought by those who assumed power from 1999 to 2015 were not reforms Nigerians needed. Internet Fraudsters Bag Two Years Each in Kaduna

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office on April 29, 2020 secured the convictions of Idahosa Bobby and Aidamebor Israel for offences bordering on internet fraud. They were arraigned before Justice Mohammed Tukur of the State High Court sitting in Kaduna, Kaduna State. The convicts were each arraigned on separate one-count charge bordering on online fraud and for possession of fraudulent documents. . Idahosa and Israel were arrested by a team of operatives attached to the Intelligence and Special Operations Section, ISOS following intelligence reports indicating their involvement in cybercrime. Press Release Aisha Buhari continues her fight against Covid-19 Pandemic with Food and Medical Palliatives

First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has donated both Food and Medical equipment including drugs to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Federal Medical Center, Abuja in continuation of her intervention towards curbing the spread of COVID-19.  She made the presentation on Wednesday the 29th of April, 2020 through Dr. Hajo Sani, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs and Administration.   The medical items include large quantities of hand sanitizers, and personal protection equipment including disposable gowns, overalls, N95 surgical masks and gloves. Hon. Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen received the items on behalf of her Ministry while the Chief Medical Director (CMD),  Prof. Saad Ahmed represented the Federal Medical Center. Aisha Buhari reaches more Healthcare Workers with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

In continuation of her support to healthcare providers who are on the COVID 19 frontline, First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has donated medical items to an NGO, “Masks for Nigerian Medics”.  The First Lady speaking at the ceremony through her Special Assistant on Heath & the Coordinator of her Future Assured Program, Dr. Kamal Abdurrahman Mohammed, said “Nigerians have come to appreciate the role that medical personnel are playing during this difficult time "and the best that we can do is to show them love and care as well as protection" Mrs. Buhari said she has been following the efforts of NGOs like Masks for Nigerian Medics, with keen interest and that is why she decided to intervene by donating these medical palliatives which they will eventually be distributed to medical personnel on the frontline. Abba Kyari Speaks. Full Text of His Press Statement. I am writing to let you know that on medical advice, I will transfer to Lagos later today for additional tests and observation. This is a precautionary measure: I feel well, but last week, I tested positive for coronavirus, the pandemic that is sweeping the world. I have followed all the protocols government has announced to self-isolate and quarantine. I have made my own care arrangements to avoid further burdening the public health system, which faces so many pressures. Like many others that will test also positive, I have not experienced high fever or other symptoms associated with this new virus and have been working from home. I hope to be back at my desk very soon. I have a team of young, professional, knowledgeable and patriotic colleagues, whose dedication has been beyond the call of duty, who continue to work seven days a week, with no time of the day spared. ADDRESS BY H.E. MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA  ON THE COVID- 19 PANDEMIC SUNDAY 29TH MARCH, 2020 1.   Fellow Nigerians, 2.   From the first signs that Coronavirus, or COVID-19 was turning into an epidemic and was officially declared a world-wide emergency, the Federal Government started planning preventive, containment and curative measures in the event the disease hits Nigeria. 3.   The whole instruments of government are now mobilized to confront what has now become both a health emergency and an economic crisis. 4.   Nigeria, unfortunately, confirmed its first case on 27th February 2020. Since then, we have seen the number of confirmed cases rise slowly. 5.    By the morning of March 29th, 2020, the total confirmed cases within Nigeria had risen to ninety-seven. 6.   Regrettably, we also had our first fatality, a former employee of PPMC, who died on 23rd March 2020. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this very difficult time
