THE FRAUD CALLED CONSTITUENCY PROJECT.

🔥 Some days ago, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], told the National Assembly that their  ₦60 billion budget for constituency Projects, stands unimplementable. About time somebody told them the truth and to their faces!

🔥 With a 40% shortfall in our nation's income, it's an unnecessary illegal burden on the people of Nigeria especially as the executive also, has provided for the same people.

🔥 Again and most importantly, Our constitution has no provisions for Constituency Projects or in any other name. We can bet you most of the lawmakers, do not know this fact. The role of the Lawmakers is to make laws. Full stop.

🔥 It is the duty of the Executive to initiate a budget. It's also their duty to provide needed amenities across the nation through the implementation of the budget as approved and passed into law by the National Assembly.

🔥 What the National Assembly did was to initiate constituency projects budget, approved it and expect the executive to give them the money. Ha!

🔥 That budget on Constituency projects is a nullity. They will have to source the funds themselves. Constituency Projects are rarely implemented anyway.

🔥 Where it is implemented, most of the Legislators influence Federal, State and Local governmental Agencies to do these projects while they the lawmakers, pocket the funds.
The constituency Projects appropriation, is a fraud and a looting channel for members of the "hallowed" chamber.

🔥 What this has done over the years is that the Executive would be left thinking the Legislators have provided certain projects for their Constituencies as budgeted by the Legislators. The Legislators will pocket the money, pointing their people to the Executive.

🔥 The Nigerian people are the losers with a  ₦60 Billion budget, going down private pockets of those who are mostly there, just for what they get from the padding of the budget.

🔥 But no more. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari is putting its foot down and insisting on spending our scarce resources on the people of Nigeria. All of us.

👍 Loans are being dished our to market women, farmers and small and medium enterprises.
👍 Railway lines and trains are getting the attention they deserve.
👍 There's massive overhauling going on in the generation and distribution of electricity.
👍 Low cost and Social Housings are being invested in
👍 New Roads are under construction and many existing dilapidated ones are being repaired. Etc. Etc.

🔥 There is separation of powers, roles and duties. The Presidency can help the National Assembly with a two week crash Course on what their roles are. The National Assembly must stick to its singular role of Lawmaking.

🔥 If this is not change, I don't know what is.
God bless Nigeria.
God bless us, everyone.
