DEAR INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE, TOUCH THE UNTOUCHABLES - Lauretta Onochie

Dear Sir,
Congratulations on your appointment.
Sen. Abdulmumin Jibrin made series of serious Allegations against the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives and some other Principal Officers of the House.

When he arrived home straight from making these allegations, Police Officers were waiting at his door. They escorted him back to  the Police Station.

On their way to the Police Station, Hon. Jibrin called his Lawyers and they advised him not to make any statement until they arrived.

The Police, Hon Jibrin and his Lawyers assembled at the Police Station. The interrogation began. It was long and ended at about 3am the following morning.

The Police looked at the Statement made by Hon. Jibrin, side by side with the evidence he provided. They decided that there were strong evidence that Hon Yakubu Dogara, Hon. Yusuf Lasun, Hon Leo Ogor and Hon Ado Doguwa, had conspired to defraud Nigerians.

At exactly 5am, four sets of crack police officers and men, knocked on the doors of these four Honourables. They were taken to the same Police Station, to different interrogation rooms and thoroughly drilled on their role in the alleged crimes of Conspiracy and theft.

The Police interrogators met to compare notes. It was decided that the four men, indeed had questions to answer. The case was immediately transferred to the Attorney General's Office

At the Attorney General's Office, plans began in earnest to charge them to court the next day. A deal to give Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin an immunity from prosecution was proposed by his Solicitors in return to turn a state Witness. Deal was approved.

On the third day since the initial allegations were made by Jibrin, Hon Yakubu Dogara, Hon. Yusuf Lasun, Hon Leo Ogor and Hon Ado Doguwa were taken to court on Conspiracy charges.

Now, the above News, as welcoming as it would be to Nigerians did not happen. It has not even happened. But that's what we expect from the Nigerian Police in 2016.

What is holding your Nigerian Police from investigating an alleged crime that is now public knowledge?

Is it the National Assembly or the APC Governors that investigate crimes? Is that how you are going to serve us? Allowing interest groups to do or interfere with your role?

If I commit a crime, will the National Assembly and the APC Governors also look into my crime rather than call in your men and women of the Police?

You are the new IG of Police. What are you doing? Why are you not asking your Police Officers to do the needful? Where is your initiative? Do you need to be "instructed" on what to do?

When President Buhari gives you a job, he expects you to get on with it by exercising your initiative. We expect the IG of Police, (that is you), to do his Policing work. Everything should not be left for EFCC.

Where is the Nigerian Police Sir? All Nigerians are equal before the law. We are happy with the way you are arresting alleged petty criminals. Please extend it too, to Alleged criminals in high places. Please help Baba to do the job he appointed you to do.
That's all we ask. Simple. Give us reasons to say, "Ma Su Gudu Su Gudu".
God Bless Nigeria
God bless us, everyone.
